As an architect, I have always had an interest in design. From the early 80’s I collected ceramics from the 1930’s focusing mainly on the work of Clarice Cliff. Her work remains my main passion and her use of colour and shape, in my view makes her one of the most important and influential ceramicists of the period.
A change of career in 1999 working as a paramedic in the London Ambulance Service did not dull my collecting.
In 2011 in conjunction with friends from the collecting world we staged Simply Clarice a showcase for the works of Clarice Cliff. Held at the Wedgewood Museum in Stoke on Trent this was a mix of talks by experts and the opportunity to purchase. The event proved very popular and was staged again in 2012.
I have been working in Abu Dhabi since 2012 and returned to the UK in 2017.
In 2016 I started work on Objects of Desire to share my passion with you of the best design from the 1930’s until now. I am excited by this new venture and hope you will join me in this journey of discovery.
Objects of Desire will not be ‘date lined’ it will show case great designs from any period. Whether it be a coffee table from the 1950’s a Vistosi bird or a Memphis table lamp it will be at Objects of Desire.
I hope you enjoy the website and I am always happy to discuss any areas of collecting or that special piece you are trying to find.
